چکیده

Some modified versions of susceptible-infected-recovered-susceptible (SIRS) model are defined on small-world networks. Latency, incubation and variable susceptibility are included, separately. Phase transitions in these models are studied. Then inhomogeneous models are introduced. In some cases, the application of the models to smallworld networks is shown to increase the epidemic region.

First- and second-order phase transitions in Ising models on small-world networks: simulations and comparison with an effective field theory.

We perform simulations of random Ising models defined over small-world networks and we check the validity and the level of approximation of a recently proposed effective field theory. Simulations confirm a rich scenario with the presence of multicritical points with first- or second-order phase transitions. In particular, for second-order phase transitions, independent of the dimension d0 of th...

Small-world Structure in Children’s Featured Semantic Networks

Background: Knowing the development pattern of children’s language is applicable in developmental psychology. Network models of language are helpful for the identification of these patterns.  Objectives: We examined the small-world properties of featured semantic networks of developing children. Materials & Methods: In this longitudinal study, the featured semantic networks of children aged 1...

Phase Transitions in Equilibrium and Non-Equilibrium Models on Some Topologies

On some regular and non-regular topologies, we studied the critical properties of models that present up-down symmetry, like the equilibrium Ising model and the nonequilibrium majority vote model. These are investigated on networks, like Apollonian (AN), Barabási–Albert (BA), small-worlds (SW), Voronoi–Delaunay (VD) and Erdös–Rényi (ER) random graphs. The review here is on phase transitions, cr...

Fast Monte Carlo Algorithms on Re-Wired Small-World Spin Models

Small-world networks have become an important model for understanding many complex phenomena in science and in sociological contexts. One tool for exploring the critical and phase transitional behaviour in small-world systems is to simulate known models on grids and networks that have been re-wired using the small-world approach. A well known model for studying phase transitions is the Ising sp...

Immunization and epidemic dynamics in complex networks

We study the behavior of epidemic spreading in networks, and, in particular, scale free networks. We use the Susceptible–Infected–Removed (SIR) epidemiological model. We give simulation results for the dynamics of epidemic spreading. By mapping the model into a static bond-percolation model we derive analytical results for the total number of infected individuals. We study this model with vario...
